- First generation college student - I like to share what I know and enjoy working with people one on one because it helps me better meet their learning needs - 14 years total teaching experience grades 6-12 (14 years Spanish, taught Social Studies concurrently for 7 of those years) - 80% pass rate for students on AP Spanish Literature exam, 93% pass rate on AP Spanish Language Exam; all my AP Spanish students have told me the exams were easy - My Spanish pedagogy focuses on application and communicative skills. I believe language is a practice and is best learned by using it. And so what's best is increasing one's opportunities to communicate in Spanish and expanding one's communicative range. - Worked as an English tutor at Chabot College in Hayward - All my Rhetoric courses at UCB were writing intensive - High level of academic English and Spanish - Experienced translator of documents and simultaneous translation for IEP meetings and in other official capacities - Extensive literacy development training - Passed AP Spanish Language exam with a 5; AP Spanish Literature, AP English Literature, AP US History, AP Biology exam with 4 on each -Counseled 15 students through the college application process; most got into competitive schools including Cal Poly, WPI, Willimette, Vasser, and multiple UC Schools.
